Hi There,<br />
<br />
After a long absence, and transition. I now have a new blog and a new name. I covers my creative side of course, but this blog is geared to drawing, hand lettering and design projects: My Etsy store is still active but I have also changed the name and I currently have no items for sale. I am completely changing the focus to being more graphics related. This is my final post here. If you are interested please head on over to my new wordpress blog: <a href="http://www.bluepigeonstudios.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Blue Pigeon Studios</a>. Thank you for your understanding.<br />

Look what I made this weekend. In my previous post I told you that I was waiting for wool felt, well it arrived and I made this incredibly cute Pocket Pixie Doll this weekend. Pattern courtesy of <a href="http://www.gingermelon.etsy.com/">Gingermelon</a> at Etsy. She has the cutest patterns! <br />
<br />
It's an easy pattern, but it involves stuffing small parts and that presented a challenge. I loved the fact that I could sew by hand. I actually enjoy sewing by hand. This pattern required that you use four different stitches. I think I am beginning to really enjoy embroidery! Not sure I would make one again, maybe only as gifts. It took me several hours just to create one doll. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1iFEhhXSnSU/Tnd_4VbJe1I/AAAAAAAABBE/Zfna51TB2uk/s1600/Pixie+Doll+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" rba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1iFEhhXSnSU/Tnd_4VbJe1I/AAAAAAAABBE/Zfna51TB2uk/s400/Pixie+Doll+005.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I must say that I do enjoy sewing with felt and the 100% wool felt lives up to it's name. Much better than the eco-felt. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
Let me know what you think if her. She doesn't have a name, maybe Lavender. <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">

<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her hair is hand sewn on one strand at a time and I used 100% wool yarn. Her dress has 2 tiny pearl beads for an accent and hand sewn lace on the bottom of her dress. </div>

Hi Pigeon Peeps and Crafters,<br />
<br />
Hope you all "never forgot" 9/11 this past weekend and so far having a good crafty creative week. It's almost Friday and where did the time go? I have been busy going a lot of research on what to create for my shop. It is quite the challenge because I like working with so much different media and materials that I can't decide on the perfect project. I enjoy doing so many different things: sewing, painting, calligraphy, macrame, beaded jewelry and the list goes on! <br />
<br />
But since I am doing the research I might as well share what I created this past weekend. I enjoy up cycling fabrics. If I can find a use for it it makes me happy. I love all those recycled stuffies that use old wool sweaters and vintage fabric, it's so inspiring! I attempted to make a heat rice therapy bag out of an old clean white t-shirt. Then created my own applique and used heat bond to iron it on. It turned out okay. <br />
<br />
Here's how I did it: Basically cut out a square about 3.5" X 5" long, stitched it together and left an opening on one side to add long grain white rice. Filled it up about 3/4 cup full, then double stitched it to close. That's it. Now for the testing and research. I placed it in the microwave and heated it for about 30 seconds. Heated up nicely but being t-shirt cotton, it doesn't absorb the moisture like 100% cotton. It felt moist the entire time. I don't think that would work well perhaps making the rice eventually go bad. So I decided to use it as a bean bag instead. Problem solved. Lesson learned, when making rice bags use material that absorbs moisture and can breathe. Like fleece, cottons, and linens. So back to the drawing board. :)<br />
<br />
Here's the project:<br />

Shop Re-opened and Felt!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
If you haven't heard by now there was a massive power outage here in my area on Thursday. We had no power for almost 12 hours. But everything is back up and running now. No problems.<br />
<br />
Announcement: My shop is now officially reopened. Yay! I am slowly adding my inventory to make room for other new items in the works. I am constantly thinking of ideas and different materials to work with. My latest obsession is with felt. I love it. It is so fun to sew with. The possibilities are endless. I made some little felt creatures with some really inexpensive eco-felt, they turned out okay but cheaper felt has a tendency to pill and pull apart. Really not impressed. If you are sewing projects with it, I recommend wool blends or 100% wool felt. Much better quality. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is my cute owl. He is created with eco-felt. I have ordered some wool and I can't wait to sew with it. i made a few more items that I will post later. <br />
<br />
<br />
Enjoy your weekend. Happy crafting! <br />

Oh my gosh!, It's been so long. It is been a crazy few months personally, but I soon will be up and running again. I actually have be contemplating and whether to re-open the shop. It's not easy trying to make a go of it and thrive to make ends meet. But there are several reasons why I want to make this happen. First of all: I enjoy making and creating. I am totally obsessed really. I have a room full of craft supplies, an awesome sewing machine that almost cooks itself, and plenty of fabric to sew a quilt or two or three! <br />
<br />
Second of All: My 2 boys are my biggest inspirations. So with that being said AND the fact that my youngest Son, who has Autism and my oldest who just entered high school year are my biggest inspirations. I just can't face closing up shop. So my friends, stay tuned. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. I love feedback. Take Care Pigeon Peeps and happy crafting! <br />

<br />
Also my computer problem seems to be solved. Just needed a clean up and maintenance! <br />
<br />
Back in December for the Christmas holiday, I made several I spy bags. They are hit with many kids, including Yours truly. This weekend I whipped up three to eventually place in the shop but I wanted to give you preview. These are fun to make. They aren't quite finished yet because I need list of trinkets and a picture card attached to the bags. I wanted something to place the cards in and those are on order. BUT I might just as well laminate. Anybody know of an inexpensive laminating machine at a reasonable cost. I don't need anything large nor fancy. One that does business cards will certainly do.<br />
<br />
Here's the promised preview:<br />

Hope you can support it!<br />
<br />
My story with Autism is an adventure, but here is a very shortened version. From the very beginning in the womb I knew something was not right. My son would toss and turn constantly and keep me from sleeping. He could not stay still and I don't think he was very happy inside my belly. He didn't like to be held, wiggle and stream to be set free. As a toddler his speech never progressed, so we did test after test. His doctor thought he was just slow developmentally. Pushing ahead a few years educators and doctors finally diagnosed him with Autism at six years of age. He is a verbal child and he can not tell how his day has gone, but he can certainly give many hugs. He is the most sweet precious boy and I wouldn't change him for the world. This graphic sums Autism up rather well. Keep in mind that Autism is different with every individual, that is why it is considered a spectrum disorder. <br />

<br />
I have been out of sorts lately but, but now in sorts! I enjoy the blog hops and parties, but truthfully I find it difficult to surf the web lately. I can't visit my favorite blogs with out having my computer freeze and this is sad. :( So I limit my visits for fear of crashing! <br />
<br />
Case in point I am having to re-type my entire post because of frozen computer issues. <br />
<br />
With that in mind, I have a new <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blue-Pigeon-Creations/133412330038697">FB page</a>. Please let me know what you think. I will use it for updates, happenings and keeping in touch with my followers.<br />
<br />
I also have a <a href="http://www.bluepigeoncreations.webs.com/">new website</a>, it's a WIP (work in progress), so bare with me. I would like to eventually email my followers with a newsletter and anyone who stops by and leaves their contact info. You can say "NAY" if you like, I know that people don't like alot of junk in their box. <br />
<br />
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their crafty adventures.<br />
<br />
Take Care,<br />

Can you Help?<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Hi Pigeon Peeps,<br />
<br />
I have been coming up with some pretty good ideas lately, but I wanted to ask for your opinion. I am not having much luck in the marketing area. But it's not my area of expertise. I wanted some opinions or comments on some new ideas that might be of interest. Thought about creating some really <span style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">cool pillow covers</span> with cute sayings on the pillow. I make my own letters and that is the fun part. I made a sample one. What do you think?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Eurmj_slv4Q/TVREiRMEnnI/AAAAAAAAA-0/Pd8XR0uDAM8/s1600/Pillow+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_uid_ocl33s="146" h5="true" height="313" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Eurmj_slv4Q/TVREiRMEnnI/AAAAAAAAA-0/Pd8XR0uDAM8/s400/Pillow+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Bk1p9PJy6Og/TVREmAAPzII/AAAAAAAAA-4/YC2eWM3E_f4/s1600/Pillow1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_uid_ocl33s="147" h5="true" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Bk1p9PJy6Og/TVREmAAPzII/AAAAAAAAA-4/YC2eWM3E_f4/s400/Pillow1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ME-kPhFh3C0/TVREuet8IxI/AAAAAAAAA-8/Hi4mxmQtN0g/s1600/redos+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_uid_ocl33s="148" h5="true" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ME-kPhFh3C0/TVREuet8IxI/AAAAAAAAA-8/Hi4mxmQtN0g/s400/redos+006.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I think they have potential and choosing the right fabrics that grab the attention helps too. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then I thought about creating some different <span style="background-color: white;">stuffies</span> to add to the owl collection. I created a new one and I am calling her <span style="background-color: #e06666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="background-color: white;">"Krazy </span><span style="background-color: white;">Kittums</span><span style="background-color: white;">!"</span></span></span> She is a little tweaked because working with certain fabrics tend to be a challenge. Embroidery isn't easy on soft stretchy fabrics. But I made a good attempt. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pDiEgO19cok/TVRGG13HI1I/AAAAAAAAA_I/D6rAAQxPpjQ/s1600/redos+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_uid_ocl33s="252" h5="true" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pDiEgO19cok/TVRGG13HI1I/AAAAAAAAA_I/D6rAAQxPpjQ/s400/redos+004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TUhYxfweIpI/AAAAAAAAA-w/5QCyfMF8oYA/s1600/Valentines+Hoot+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TUhYxfweIpI/AAAAAAAAA-w/5QCyfMF8oYA/s400/Valentines+Hoot+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I was on a roll last week with creating a few owls for the shop and I actually created another Valentine owl different from my larger owls. I am Feeling a bit discouraged because I do get a few views but that's about it. I am on facebook (putting shameless plugs there on my personal page), twitter and I enjoy the blog hops, but I don't have the time to join the parties. It's either work to craft stuff for the store, and neglect the blog. I find that listing the items takes a tremendous amount of time too. Maybe I am just trying to hard and have too much going. I want to write on my other blogs, but there again, that would take time away from the goal of trying to make a go of the shop. I asked a friend about my dilemma, she suggested craft fairs. Okay idea if your not hesitant about going out there and putting forth the effort or time. My point is I don't want this blog to sound like a constant advertisement for the shop, but I feel like that it's turning out to be that way. But most of items I create are for the shop. I might just have to change the way my blog functions. <br />
<br />
Forgive me if I sound like "Donkey" from Whinny the Pooh. I know things will improve, gotta keep the faith. <br />
<br />
Happy Crafting Peeps,<br />

I put a new Owl in the <a href="http://www.bluepigeoncreations.etsy.com/">shop</a>. I need to do some more marketing of my items. The owl is made with a very soft and fluffy fabric. It is comparable to minky or soft pile fleece. In the works is an owl I am creating for up and coming Valentine's Day. So stay tuned! A perfect gift! <br />

Sewed up a potholder recently, because the one I had in the kitchen had seen it's last days. It a made entirely from 100% linen and imported Japanese linen, what a cute print. I used three different prints. Check it out.<br />

I've been sick again with a nasty sinus infection and the added bonus of the flu. Lost weight but I don't think it is the best way to start off the new year!<br />
<br />
I am hoping to pull it together soon. I had a few sales during the holidays but nothing to write home about. But I do want to thank those who did purchase from my shop! This Christmas I handmade many gifts to mail to family out of state and it inspired them! Isn't it a nice feeling when you can inspire others?! I did do some painting over the holidays. I will share when I have the room to take the pictures. <br />
<br />
<br />
Most likely things will start back up in full gear when my kids head back to school. Also to add to the list of eventful happenings. My youngest son, Brendan is turning 9 on Friday! Happy Birthday Brendan! We don't do the huge party thing. It's way over-rated for him, (meaning over stimulation) and he couldn't really handle it. So we just stick to small and simple family parties. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So Pigeon Peeps I haven't fully disappeared, but sorry for my loooong absence. Thanks to all who still check in once in a while to see if I am still around. Love the support. <br />
<br />
<br />
Take Care♥<br />

I am trying very hard to get my little shop of the ground but it's not an easy task. I keep asking myself how to manage my family life with having a blog. Question of the hour I imagine. <br />
<br />
<br />
I have been shopping like crazy for fabrics and then when they arrive at the door I don't know what to do with them. I have made a few items and place them in the shop, but they don't seem to be getting the looks. I love shopping for the cute fabrics, but there is a method to using them in projects to appeal to people. It is quite the learning process. It's not easy. So I may have to make some changes.<br />
<br />
Besides sewing I do paint with acrylics. I have done a few a thoroughly enjoy it and I have to admit I am pretty good at it. Here is a few that I have done. More on the way. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TEdwdofWFgI/AAAAAAAAAvM/uyykNzKuaCY/s1600/Shop+photos+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TEdwdofWFgI/AAAAAAAAAvM/uyykNzKuaCY/s400/Shop+photos+001.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
Sewing tip #1 for those of you who sew: Change your sewing machine needle often or you will end up with skipped stitches and not a good look for your projects. I suggest changing your needle about every eight hours or every project! <br />
<br />
It's short and sweet today! Happy Crafting Peeps.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNnEAJlxLrI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/6SOG2pcN3TQ/s1600/sig.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNnEAJlxLrI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/6SOG2pcN3TQ/s1600/sig.jpg" /></a></div>Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01504189632537760919noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970465707107754178.post-2749768739504771702010-11-05T12:18:00.000-07:002010-11-05T12:25:51.653-07:00I have Returned!Happy Friday,<br />
<br />
I apologize for the long absence. I was sick for awhile and I am now back in the groove of things. I fully admit that trying to keep a blog is quite the feat. <br />
<br />
<br />
Don't get me wrong it's not that I haven't been doing anything in the way of sewing but I seem to be on a creative block. I have made a few things for the shop, but because my mind constantly runs in several directions at once I can never be satisfied! There I said it. I do believe that I have some form of ADHD, just my like youngest with Autism. It's funny even with such things as body wash, I get bored with what I am using because I want use one that smells different. Crazy I know, but I do have it under control but it took me 44 years to figure it out. That's why my reading comprehension is about two minutes. <br />
<br />
Well enough about my psychological health, on to creativity! Yay! Take a look at a few things I have sewn for the <a href="http://www.bluepigeoncreations.etys.com/">shop.</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRRevJIqhI/AAAAAAAAA78/gDoPxHBkwTo/s1600/Pinky1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRRevJIqhI/AAAAAAAAA78/gDoPxHBkwTo/s400/Pinky1.jpg" width="396" /></a></div> This is "<a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/60901235/cute-pink-owl-stuffie">pinky</a>" my latest Little Hoot. My goal was to get her done before the end of October for Breast Cancer Awareness,but that didn't happen. That's okay, on to something else.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRSNCPlNcI/AAAAAAAAA8A/-xCzuXU-qg0/s1600/Shoulder+snakes+and+other+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRSNCPlNcI/AAAAAAAAA8A/-xCzuXU-qg0/s400/Shoulder+snakes+and+other+6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/59924394/shoulder-snake?ref=v1_other_2"></a><a href="http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=970465707107754178&postID=274976873950477170">Shoulder snakes</a>. These are made with long grain white rice. Put them in the microwave for the ultimate in heat therapy. Great for the boys, especially if they have sensory issues. My youngest loves to play with these!<br />
<br />
Now, since you all know that I like to do everything, my latest obsession is <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/zakka">Zakka</a> Life and all the cute(Kawaii) Japanese Fabrics. I have some ordered from Etsy.com and will be making some cute stuff. Stay tuned. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRV1ou7pMI/AAAAAAAAA8E/eOx8Y1nAj4s/s1600/Kawaii+Fabrics.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRV1ou7pMI/AAAAAAAAA8E/eOx8Y1nAj4s/s400/Kawaii+Fabrics.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I actually very addicted to all the cute Japanese prints. I enjoy painting quite a bit and just last weekend I finished up an acrylic 24" x 30" painting. I call it the "Quiet Coast." It's currently gracing our living wall. More are in the works. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Enjoy! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRXobXqc6I/AAAAAAAAA8I/WjBKZVSSgJE/s1600/Quiet+Coast.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TNRXobXqc6I/AAAAAAAAA8I/WjBKZVSSgJE/s400/Quiet+Coast.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend. I having been sewing a tiny bit and even have some stuff to put in my shop. I actually have a nasty sinus infection and if you ever have had one, they suck! My head has been hurting for three days, so I went to the doctors today for some meds. Hopefully I will be better by next week. The only thing I am doing blog wise on Saturday is visiting my friend's <a href="http://frostedpetunias.blogspot.com/2010/09/tea-party-under-halloween-moon.html">Tea Party under the Halloween Moon</a>. Okay I am done. Enjoy your weekend♥<br />

I really wish physics could really increase the hours in a day, because lately I don't have enough of them. <br />
<br />
I am very encouraged and excited because this week I had my first two sales in my shop! I truly took me by surprise and I wasn't prepared. Literally! Running your own shop is a one man show and trying to keep the blog is a challenge as well. Sorry for not having the weekly Tuesday tip, just didn't have one prepared. Too busy running to the post office!<br />
<br />
Yes, I am overwhelmed at times, but having my own business is a dream come true for me and I wouldn't change it for the world. I have all of you to thank for that!!<br />
<br />
I made my first "Sne(e)ak n' Peek bag. Other people would name it "I Spy" bag, but knowing me I wanted to be different. I had to test this toy on my youngest son, just to see his reaction. These bags are supposed to keep children occupied for certain periods of time. Well, honestly it didn't work with my son. He also has ADHD and his attention span is about 15 seconds. The interest level was not there. He periodically picks up the bag, looks at it for about a few seconds at time and then puts it down and goes to something else. He is a visual learner and sensory to the extreme. That combination of ADHD and visual stimulation is really tricky. I find it a challenge to find therapy type toys for him. It's one of the reasons that I decided to open up a shop to see if I could create something different for every individual. Every child with Autism is completely different and that is what makes them so unique! <br />
<br />
So I probably won't end up making these for the shop. One, they aren't beneficial for everyone and two, everyone seems to be making these because they are really easy to create! <br />
<br />
But I will share the bag that I made and pass it along to you. Enjoy!<br />

I don't even have a name for her but she is an heirloom handed down to me by my Mother. It was hers when she was a child. I am not sure of the age, but I am guessing around 60-70 years or more. She is handcrafted from felt. The details are amazing. Just look at the detailing on her skirt, on her face and look at the bottom of her shoes. I just love her face and eyes. Look at the curls in her hair and the braids.<br />
<br />
I am not done yet. I decided to try working with wood last weekend and came up with this cute welcome sign.<br />
<br />

Let dry. Purchased some small wooden stars and painted one with yellow paint, glued on. Found the penguin and glued him on as well. Then I bought a <a href="http://www.usartsupply.com/sharpie/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=SRP+37206">sharpie paint pen</a><br />
and did some fancy writing. Then I took a little hand drill and put a few holes in the upper corners. Walaaa... Quick welcome sign.<br />
<br />
Hope your enjoy your weekend. Happy crafting Pigeon Peeps.<br />

Hi Pigeon Peeps and Happy Friday,<br />
<br />
Getting excited for the Halloween holiday. Putting up a few decorations, but I don't want to over do it! I have lights up and that is a start. There are some new <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/58265459/cute-halloween-owl-stuffie">Little Hoots</a> in my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/bluepigeoncreations">Etsy shop.</a> The photo above is Halloween Hoots. He has poly pellets in his bottom so he can stand on his own. He is also stuffed with poly-fill as well. Then we have Little Hoots. Isn't she pretty? She is made from a an old skirt I had and also stuffed with pellets/poly-fill. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TK-g0w-FgFI/AAAAAAAAA7A/gFvEX9TrNG0/s1600/LittleHoots1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TK-g0w-FgFI/AAAAAAAAA7A/gFvEX9TrNG0/s400/LittleHoots1.jpg" width="398" /></a></div>The bottom photo I just stuck in because I wanted to give you some idea of size, as compared to the other owls in the shop.<br />
<br />

It's going to be a nice weekend here, but it won't feel like fall yet. Happy crafting everyone!<br />

<br />
Are you counting down to Halloween? I usually do. It's my favorite holiday, I will be doing some blog hopping, but I am trying to get stuff done. It seems like that's all I do. I have a few friends to share and for the last few days I have been sewing these sweet stuffies. <br />
<br />
Welcome "Little Hoots". These are a smaller version of my current owls in the <a href="http://www.bluepigeoncreations.etsy.com/">shop</a> and slightly different. They don't have buttons, so perfect for the younger ones. Also I have weighted their bottoms, so they sit really nicely on shelves or anywhere on their own and a great for your lap. <br />
<br />
Forgive me if I am not too chatty today. I've been a little under the weather, my youngest son gave me his cold. It's attributed to the wild weather the last couple of days: Lightning, thunder, hail, torrential downpours and power outages. I love the storms, but it raises havoc on my sinuses. <br />
<br />
Here is my owls to share. I think they are rather cute! Just posting a few pictures. Need to go lie down. <br />
<br />

<br />
I am starting a new segment here at Blue Pigeon called Tips and Tutorials Tuesday. Every Tuesday I will post either a tip or a tutorial to share with each of you. When it comes to tips, it could be anything from cleaning to Autism! I want to share what I learn with each of you! Project tutorials won't come as frequently, perhaps only once a month because they take time to plan and prepare. I haven't learned yet to make things simple! <br />
<br />
This is Tuesday and Today I have a very simple tip for when you are cooking for the family. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJCtQIi_-I/AAAAAAAAA48/pKL7KTHvpyI/s1600/hiding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" px="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJCtQIi_-I/AAAAAAAAA48/pKL7KTHvpyI/s1600/hiding.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My son has Autism and if you are familiar with it, they tend to be very picky eaters. This tip isn't just for children with Autism, but for any child. He likes about five kinds of foods and that about it. One of his all time favorites is Spaghetti. If he had has way, he would make Spaghetti a separate food group. </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This summer we had a nutritionist visit our house to weigh and measure Brendan. Before she arrived I had to record exactly what he eat and how much for three days. He's a little chubby because his behavior tends to be an issue with food. He was eating WAY to much and it was becoming a problem. Can you say "meltdown?" He wasn't getting everything that he needed nutritionally. Doesn't really like any veggies except salad and LOVES tomatoes with Light Ranch Dressing. But we needed more. </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Since Brendan loves Spaghetti, the nutritionist suggested taking doing this:</span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Take about 1/2 cup of fresh spinach leaves and place in the food processor. </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKI-mjnVQKI/AAAAAAAAA4g/wudcxHR5b-w/s1600/Fresh+spinach2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" px="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKI-mjnVQKI/AAAAAAAAA4g/wudcxHR5b-w/s400/Fresh+spinach2.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKI-2_yidtI/AAAAAAAAA4o/aMmlcLqXhKA/s1600/chop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" px="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKI-2_yidtI/AAAAAAAAA4o/aMmlcLqXhKA/s400/chop.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Then prepare Spaghetti as you normally would. You can cook ground beef or turkey (I use turkey) in a saucepan. Or use no meat at all. Then without your kids in the kitchen peaking, quickly add the chopped spinach! </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKI_1IMKROI/AAAAAAAAA4s/pCehk5DYiic/s1600/cook.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" px="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKI_1IMKROI/AAAAAAAAA4s/pCehk5DYiic/s400/cook.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Next, add a jar of spaghetti sauce or if you have time, prepare your own. Me? I don't have the time. This jar will do fine. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJAYVe5bVI/AAAAAAAAA4w/IZhjkk69-PI/s1600/add.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" px="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJAYVe5bVI/AAAAAAAAA4w/IZhjkk69-PI/s400/add.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJAvmLGmWI/AAAAAAAAA40/5_mwenHKv28/s1600/mix.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" px="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJAvmLGmWI/AAAAAAAAA40/5_mwenHKv28/s400/mix.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJBF46mdSI/AAAAAAAAA44/4PEW5lsG3iM/s1600/endtitle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="107" px="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F4Qtk1C-ZrE/TKJBF46mdSI/AAAAAAAAA44/4PEW5lsG3iM/s320/endtitle.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Sauce complete. My son cannot tell the difference and doesn't even notice that I have added anything. It has been working fine. He has even lost weight and the meltdowns happen less now during dinner time. I hope this one tip has helped you today. </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Enjoy! Until Next Tuesday! </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I am apologizing for disappearing, which I am not supposed to do. Bloggers rule I guess, but I am having some serious technical issues with my computer. My tech Husband had to rebuild mine and start over, but now a sound driver is just giving me a run for my money. He is still trying to solve the problem. I can't do much except sewing! Good thing I guess, but I can't do a thing on my computer. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>I will be back. Really I will, and with some new stuff to share! <br />
